The Times of India Sports Awards (TOISA) 2021 to honour champions today

The evaluation period for the awards was the calendar year 2021. It included the last editions of the Olympics, Paralympics and Asian Championships, World Cups and World Championships. Nominees were shortlisted in multiple categories across different sporting disciplines for men and women including para-sports after meticulous research for the TOISA 2021awards. The most coveted prize will of course once again be the prestigious Sportsperson of the Year award. There will also be a Lifetime Achievement award recipient. Nominees for award categories of TOISA 2021 included the likes of Indian sporting stars like Neeraj Chopra, PV Sindhu, Mirabai Chanu, Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Sumit Antil, Avani Lekhara, Jasprit Bumrah, Smriti Mandhana, Jhulan Goswami, Gurjit Kaur, Sharath Kamal, Manika Batra, Lovlina Borgohain, Devendra Jhajharia, Ravi Kumar Dahiya, the Indian men's cricket and hockey teams, the women's hockey team, among others.

Top Indian discus thrower Kamalpreet Kaur, who achieved stardom for her exploits at the Tokyo Games, was on Wednesday banned for three year for using prohibited substance stanozolol, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has announced. Her ban will be effective from March 29, 2022. Kamalpreet was handed a provisional suspension in May this year after testing positive for the steroid, which was found in her sample that AIU collected at Patiala on March 7. Stanozolol is classified as an anabolic steroid and is in the list of banned substances as per World Athletics.

AIFF To Initiate Enquiry On Late Arrival Of Boots For FIFA Women's U-17 World Cup Squad

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) will initiate an enquiry on the late arrival of boots of four members of the FIFA Women's U-17 World Cup squad, leading to the players wearing them for the first time during the match against USA. AIFF secretary general Shaji Prabhakaran said that he has asked for a report from the national teams department on how the consignment of new boots did not reach on time. He said action will be taken if needed.
