MS Dhoni could lead Chennai Super Kings once again when the five-time champions take on Delhi Capitals in an IPL 2025 encounter on Saturday. According to Indian Express, Ruturaj Gaikwad's availability for the match is not yet confirmed after he picked up an injury to his forearm. Gaikwad was hit on his right arm by a delivery from Tushar Deshpande during the match against Rajasthan Royals. The report claimed that Gaikwad did not train ahead of the match and CSK batting coach Mike Hussey said that a call will be taken about him before the match. With no other captaincy option in the team, Dhoni is expected to step up and take over the reins in front of the home crowd in Chennai.
It has not been an ideal start to his IPL 2025 season with Lucknow Super Giants for Rishabh Pant. The Indian cricket team wicket-keeper batter has disappointed with the bat and under his leadership, LSG have lost 2 out of their 3 matches in the competition. Pant's form has resulted in a lot of criticism - both from fans as well as experts - with videos of his on-field interaction with team owner Sanjiv Goenka going viral recently. In a recent interaction, Goenka was asked about Pant's leadership abilities and he was quick to say that he has complete faith in his skipper and the team was planned around him.
Being practitioners of the same 'art form', the world's leading left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav finds young Afghan bowler Noor Ahmad fascinating and terms his fast-paced googly as a delivery which batters find it difficult to pick up. Kuldeep and Noor have been in good form for their respective teams and a lot will hinge on them when Delhi Capitals take on Chennai Super Kings in an away game in Chennai on Saturday. While Kuldeep has taken five wickets from three games at an economy rate of less than six, Noor is currently on top of wicket-taker's list with nine victims and an ER of 6.83.
An out-of-sorts Yashasvi Jaiswal would want his on-field exploits to make headlines rather than his off-field decisions as Rajasthan Royals, led by regular skipper Sanju Samson, will aim to keep a marauding Punjab Kings batting lineup in check in their IPL clash in Mullanpur on Saturday. Jaiswal, Indian batting's heir apparent to Virat Kohli, recently made news for switching from Mumbai to Goa reportedly due to differences and ego clashes with an ageing, out-of-favour India star in his state team.
