Hardik Pandya the stand-in captain in India's ODI series against Australia has revealed that he won't be taking part in the World Test Championship final. Hardik Pandya has not played Test cricket for India since September 2018 and has been limited to only playing white-ball cricket due to constant injuries especially back injuries. However, with India qualifying for the World Test Championship, he was asked ahead of the first ODI against Australia if he would be ready to don the whites again for the one-off game at The Oval.

The India vs Australia three-match ODI series kicked off in Mumbai on Friday with host skipper Hardik Pandya winning the toss and opting to bowl first. Given Rohit Sharma is not a part of the first game due to family commitments, Hardik has been assigned the duty of leading the side at the ongoing first ODI at the Wankhede Stadium. It was a good sight for the Indian fans as the stand-in skipper was seen rolling his arms during India's bowling.

The World number 17 Indian pair looked solid in their defence and relentless in attack, claiming 21-14 18-21 21-12 win over the newly-formed Chinese pair of Li Wen Mei and Liu Xuan Xuan in a 64-minute quarterfinals. The only Indians in the fray, Gayatri and Treesa will face either Indonesian combination of either seeded Apriyani Rahayu and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti or Korea's Baek Ha Na and Lee So Hee next.

Mohammed Shami was on top of his game as India bowled out Australia for 188 runs in the first ODI match at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Friday. He claimed a total of three wickets during his six over spell and two of those came through cleaning up the batters. Josh Inglis' stumps were rattled by Shami for the pacer's first wicket, before he got better of Cameron Green with a peach of a delivery. A good length ball pitched around the off stump swung away from Green and sent his off stump cartwheeling.

Talented Indian left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh will play five first-class matches for Kent during the upcoming English County season in order to hone his red-all skills.
