India were left reeling on the second day of the World Test Championship final at The Oval in London, with Australian pacers dominating the show. The Indian top-order did not live up to its reputation as the likes of Rohit Sharma (15), Shubman Gill (13), Cheteshwar Pujara (14) and Virat Kohli (14) failed to strike big. Virat Kohli's innings promised to be a gritty one with wickets falling at the other end. But in the 19th over of the Indian 1st innings, Mitchell Starc produced a slanted delivery that moved from a length and as Kohli attempted to defend he edged on to the second slip, where Steve Smith took an overhead catch. That left India four-down and Kohli was dejected.

A day after calling off their protest against outgoing WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh having received assurance from the government, the wrestlers on Thursday expressed intent to take part in the Asian Games selection trials scheduled to be held later this month. Sports Minister Anurag Thakur on Thursday said that all national federations are aiming to finalise the squads for the Asian Games, well before the July 15 deadline set by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). The Games are set to take place in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8.
After Australia piled on a huge 469-run total in their first innings of the World Test Championship final against India, a lot was expected from the opening duo of India skipper Rohit Sharma and talented youngster Shubman Gill. However, both the batters fell in the second session on the second day to leave the Indian team reeling. While Rohit Sharma was trapped LBW by Pat Cummins, Gill was bowled by Scott Boland. With 84 goals to his name from 131 international appearances, the most by an Indian, Chhetri has set numerous records over the last two decades.
India's campaign ended at the Singapore Masters badminton tournament after Kidambi Srikanth lost in straight games to Chia Hao Lee of Chinese Taipei in the men's singles second round in Singapore on Thursday. Srikanth lost 15-21, 19-21 in just 37 minutes against Lee in their first meeting on the professional circuit. The 2021 World Championships silver medallist Srikanth beat Thailand's Kantaphon Wangcharoen 21-15, 21-19 in the opening round.
