In a viral video, a fan requested Akash to give him a bottle of water as he was feeling thirsty. "Pyaas laga hai, ek bottle do na (I am thirsty, please pass me a bottle)," two fans could be heard as saying. The pacer, after a bit of hesitation, decided to throw a bottle in the crowd. This incident took place on the second day of the game. Akash's gesture received huge applause from the fans.

The Indian cricket team continued their tradition of giving out 'fielding awards' to top performers after the series win over England with Shreyas Iyer finding a special mention from fielding coach T Dilip. Iyer played the first two Tests of the five-match series but was left out of the squad for the rest of the matches and he was also excluded from the BCCI central contracts list. In a video posted by BCCI on social media, T Dilip was seen praising the Indian cricket team players for their brilliant fielding performances and added that Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill will be sharing one medal.

Two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have roped in English wicketkeeper batter Phil Salt as the replacement for Jason Roy ahead of the Indian Premier League (2024). In a statement released by the IPL, it stated that Jason pulled himself out of the upcoming season of the T20 tournament due to "personal reasons". The statement also added that the 2024 season will be Salt's second IPL after representing the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the previous year. "Kolkata Knight Riders have named Phil Salt as a replacement for Jason Roy after the latter pulled out of the upcoming TATA IPL 2024 owing to personal reasons. Having remained unsold in the auction after representing the Delhi Capitals last year, this will be Salt's second season in the IPL."

Bajrang Punia and Ravi Dahiya -- both Tokyo Games medallists -- were on Sunday eliminated from the race for the Paris Olympics qualification after losing their respective bouts in the selection trials for the upcoming international tournaments.
