NEW DELHI :Royal Challengers Bangalore won their maiden Women's Premier League (WPL) title after their spinners restricted Delhi Captials to 113, setting the stage for an eight-wicket victory with just three balls to spare in New Delhi on Sunday.
An all-round Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) led by yet another solid knock by Ellyse Perry and brilliant bowling spells from spinners Shreyanka Patil and Sophie Molineux captured their first-ever Women's Premier League (WPL) title after defeating Delhi Capitals by eight wickets in the title clash at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday. This is RCB's first-ever T20 title across both WPL and the Indian Premier League (IPL). Chasing 114, RCB started off cautiously, getting just 18 runs in their first four overs. Openers Smriti Mandhana and Sophie Devine did not take much risks, except for two boundaries by the New Zealand batter.

India's Ram Baboo on Saturday achieved the Paris Olympics men's 20km race qualification standard, clocking a personal best time of 1:20:00 at the Dudinska 50 Meet in Slovakia. Baboo, a bronze winner in the 35km walk race at the Hangzhou Asian Games, gave a good account of himself in this Race Walking Tour Gold-Level event finishing third. This is the first time an Indian athlete is finishing on the podium in this meet. The cutoff mark for Olympic qualification is 1:20:10.
Ravichandran Ashwin's entry into the 500-wicket club has delighted the legendary Anil Kumble who said the off-spinner's immense success over the last decade stems from his desire to learn and ability to rise above constant challenges. Bangladesh pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib has been ruled out of the third and final ODI match against Sri Lanka after sustaining a hamstring injury. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have not named a replacement for the 21-year-old since they already have Mustafizur Rahman in the ODI squad.
