Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) got off to a flyer against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match on Saturday, smashing 62 runs off just 33 balls. Over the course of his stay in the middle, Kohli hit 5 sixes and 5 fours, stitching a brilliant 97-run stand for the first wicket with debutant Jacob Bethell. In the process, Kohli went on to script history in the T20 league's history, becoming the first player ever to hit 300 sixes for a single franchise.
The Central Asian Volleyball tournament from which India has withdrawn in the aftermath of the terror attack in Pahalgam has been shifted from Islamabad to Tashkent in Uzbekistan, an official of the Pakistan federation said on Saturday. A senior official of Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) said the Central Asia Volleyball Association (CAVA) has taken the decision to shift the event to Uzbekistan. “It is a huge disappointment for Pakistan volleyball even though India had withdrawn. But we fully understand the CAVA's General Body's decision,” the official said.
Exactly a month ago, Gujarat Titans pacer Kagiso Rabada returned home from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, with the franchise labelling the reason a ‘personal' one. However, the South African speedster has now revealed that he had to return home due to ‘provisional suspension' over the usage of recreational drugs. Rabada himself issued a statement, explaining the scenario while also suggesting that he would use this as an opportunity to reflect on and improve himself. However, the statement didn't clarify what sort of recreational substance the pacer use, for which he tested positive. The statement also doesn't explain if it was an 'in competition' (IC) test or 'out of competition' (OOC).
Shubman Gill is going to be a very good leader not only for Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL) but also for India, Afghanistan T20I skipper Rashid Khan said on Saturday. Gill has led Gujarat Titans from the front with 465 runs in 10 matches at 51.66 with six fifties so far this season. "Shubman Gill, this is his second year leading the team and he has been getting better and better each and every game," Rashid said during a media interaction.
In a freewheeling chat, batting icon Virat Kohli picked the toughest bowlers he has faced in each format -- Tests, ODIs and T20 cricket. In a viral video, Kohli labelled England's James Anderson as the toughest bowler he has faced in Test cricket. He also added that facing Anderson in England was the toughest part of his career. In ODIs, Kohli picked a pacer and a spinner each. Kohli admitted that former Sri Lanka pacer Lasith Malinga was the toughest to face in ODI cricket, and gave a special shotuout to England's Adil Rashid as the toughest spinner.
For the second season in a row, Chennai Super Kings have missed out on a spot in the Indian Premier League (IPL) playoffs. The franchise, in all likelihood, will finish among the bottom two sides in the 10-team points table. The crisis in the team this season has been such that MS Dhoni has had to return to lead the team after skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad got injured. CSK, at present, neither have a good replacement for Dhoni as a wicket-keeper, a deputy captain for the future nor players who can be banked upon to carry the team's legacy forward.
