Ace Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth advanced into the quarter-finals of the men's singles event at the Malaysia Masters 2025 badminton tournament in Bukit Jalil, while HS Prannoy lost his pre-quarterfinals clash, as per Olympics.com. Former world No. 1 Srikantth, currently 65th in the badminton rankings, endured a tough battle against Ireland's Nhat Nguyen before coming out with a 23-21, 21-17 win at the Stadium Axiata Arena KL Sports City. The contest lasted almost an hour. Nhat Nguyen, the world No. 33, dominated the early exchanges and led 11-4 at the interval of the first game. The Indian badminton player, however, flipped the script completely to register a thrilling win.

Indian rally-raid rider Harith Noah was forced to withdraw from the South African Safari Rally, Round 3 of the 2025 FIA-FIM World Rally-Raid Championship (W2RC), following a crash at the beginning of Stage 1. Harith encountered a jackal that jumped in front of his bike and while attempting to brake and maneuver around the animal, he crashed, resulting in significant swelling in his right hand. He got up and showed resilience, riding 20 kilometres more before withdrawing due to loss of grip strength and pain from the fall. Harith had made a good start to the rally, finishing 5th in the Prologue Stage of Rally 2 with a timing of 7:44.1s, marking his return to rally-raid after he had an injury-led exit at the Dakar Rally, earlier in January which required surgery to his wrist.

Seasoned Indian badminton player Kidambi Srikanth entered the quarterfinals of Malaysia Masters after defeating Ireland's Nhat Nguyen in his second-round match here on Thursday. Srikanth prevailed 23-21, 21-17 in the 59-minute showdown against world number 33 Nguyen. Srikanth, whose world ranking has plummeted to 65 owing to a prolonged lean patch, will face France's Toma Junior Popov in the last-eight stage. Popov ousted another Indian, Ayush Shetty, with a 21-13, 21-17 triumph in his second-round match. Also bowing out was Sathish Karunakaran. He was beaten 14-21, 16-21 by Toma's brother and doubles partner Christo Popov.
