Saint Lucia Kings defeated the Guyana Amazon Warriors by six wickets in the final to win their maiden Caribbean Premier League (CPL) title at Providence Stadium on Sunday. Opting to bowl first, the Kings restricted the Warriors at 138/8 with Noor Ahmad scalped three wickets. Later, the Faf du Plessis-led side chased down the target 18.1 overs and clinched their maiden title. After a long and tiring wait of 11 years, St Lucia finally emerged as the champions, as they were the only original CPL franchise left without a title.

The victory made Saint Lucia the fifth team to win the CPL, ending their run as the only original franchise yet to claim the title. On a slow, tricky pitch, and after a middle-order collapse that left Saint Lucia reeling at 51 for 4 in pursuit of a modest 139, Jones turned the match around with a sudden burst of power-hitting.

England allrounder Moeen Ali has announced his retirement from international cricket after being left out of the white-ball series against Australia. Moeen last represented England in their semifinal loss to India at the 2024 T20 World Cup in Guyana. "I'm 37 years old and didn't get picked for this month's Australia series. I've played a lot of cricket for England. It's time for the next generation, which was also explained to me. It felt the time was right. I've done my part," Moeen said in a Daily Mail interview.
Pakistan cricket team wicket-keeper batter Azam Khan once again found himself in the headlines following a bizarre dismissal in the Caribbean Premier League 2024. The incident happened during the match against Antigua and Barbuda Falcons as the Guyana Amazon Warriors batter was dismissed after scoring just 9 runs. A bouncer from fast bowler Shamar Springer proved to be too good for Azam as it hit him straight on the neck. The batter could not maintain his balance and while collapsing on the ground, his bat hit the stumps and he was dismissed hit wicket. Azam looked in pain as the team physio quickly entered the ground and he was taken to the dressing room after some inspection.
