Nigeria suffered a steep drop in the latest FIFA rankings released yesterday, by the world football ruling body, which many have attributed to the Super Eagles’ 1-2 home loss to Rwanda, in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Uyo. According to FIFA, the Super Eagles, who were ranked number 36 in the world in October, are now the 44th-best team, falling by eight points. The drop, however, did not affect Nigeria’s standing in Africa, where they remain the continent’s fifth-best team behind Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, and Algeria.
