The hunt for the Indian men's senior cricket team is underway with the deadline for applications just a week away. According to multiple reports, former India batter Gautam Gambhir is one of the top contenders to replace Rahul Dravid as head coach. Besides Gambhir, three Indian Premier League (IPL) coaches -- Stephen Fleming (CSK), Justin Langer (LSG) and Mahela Jayawardene (Mumbai Indians Director of Cricket) are also under BCCI's radar for the high-stakes job. Reports have also emerged that BCCI's Operations Team has also approached Gujarat Titans head coach and former India pacer Ashish Nehra for the job.
The hunt for the Indian men's cricket team's new head coach has intensified with several names being linked with the job over the past few weeks. The likes of Stephen Fleming, Ricky Ponting, Gautam Gambhir, VVS Laxman, etc. have all been talked about as Rahul Dravid's replacement, with the India legend's contract ending after the T20 World Cup 2024. However, it has been reported that current Chennai Super Kings coach Stephen Fleming is on the top of the BCCI's wishlist. While Fleming isn't keen on signing a long-term contract, the board is reportedly looking to use MS Dhoni as the man to persuade Fleming to do so.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter Rinku Singh shared a heartfelt post for Uttar Pradesh teammate and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pacer Yash Dayal after the latter helped his side qualify for the Indian Premier League (IPL) playoffs. For the unversed, Rinku and Dayal share a history in the IPL with the KKR batter hitting Dayal for five sixes in an over to help his side win the match. Dayal, who was with Gujarat Titans (GT) back then, saw his confidence hit rock bottom after the beating at the hands of Rinku.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) continued their rampant run in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, securing their sixth consecutive win of the season to qualify for the playoffs. Up against 5-time champions Chennai Super Kings in their final league game of the season, RCB put in a heroic performance to book a spot in the playoffs. Courtesy of their progression, RCB also registered a stunning first in the history of the T20 league, becoming the only team to qualify for the playoffs after winning just one game in the first half (7 games) of the league campaign.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Faf du Plessis showered praise on the team's middle order after they grabbed the final play-off spot in the Indian Premier League after a stunning turnaround in the tournament.
Yash Dayal completed his redemption story as the young fast bowler produced a brilliant show in the final over against MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja to guide Royal Challengers Bengaluru to a massive win over Chennai Super Kings on Saturday. Thanks to the win, RCB became the final team to book their spot in the IPL 2024 playoffs and eliminated the five-time winners CSK in the process. It was a huge moment for Dayal as well after his horror show in 2023 when Kolkata Knight Riders' Rinku Singh slammed five sixes in five balls against him to hand Gujarat Titans a shock defeat. However, Dayal has shown great promise for RCB this season and Rinku himself had a special message for him.
Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh believes Rajat Patidar changed the game for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru with his quick-fire knock against Chennai Super Kings in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. RCB ended CSK's title defence by becoming the first team to qualify for the playoffs after having just one win in their first seven games of the season. In a rain-affected match, the duo of Virat Kohli and skipper Faf du Plessis forged a 78-run stand. Their partnership provided the base for RCB to put on a total which would help them reach the final four.
