Yuzvendra Chahal might not have ended up on the winners podium after Rajasthan Royals lost to Gujarat Titans in the IPL final but had a lot to be pleased about with his overall performance in the IPL 2022. The leg-spinner won the Purple Cap by taking a total of 27 wickets in IPL 2022. Going into the match, Chahal was in second position despite having taken the same number of wickets (26) as RCB's Wanindu Hasaranga. But by the virtue of a better economy rate, the Sri Lankan was heading the list. In the IPL final on Sunday, Chahal took one wicket to take the outright lead in the Purple Cap race. Chahal also surpassed Imran Tahir to become the spinner with most wickets in an IPL season.
Toni Kroos stormed out of a post-match interview following Real Madrid’s Champions League triumph over Liverpool. The Germany international played an integral role as Vinicius Jnr struck a second-half winner to beat Liverpool at the Stade de France, Paris in what was very much a smash-and-grab. Ad/> Los Blancos only registered four shots in comparison to Liverpool’s 24, as Carlo Ancelotti’s defence — well marshalled by man of the match Thibaut Courtois – dug deep to see out the club’s 14th European title.
Dinesh Karthik has been a journeyman in the Indian Premier League, having represented numerous teams in the tournament. Ahead of IPL 2022, Dinesh Karthik was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 5.50 crore in the IPL mega auction. RCB beat fierce competition from Chennai Super Kings in the auction to finally get their man. Karthik then repaid the faith shown in him by RCB with some superlative performances for the team in IPL 2022, playing a key role in their qualification for IPL 2022 playoffs. However, RCB's hopes of winning a maiden IPL title came to an end on Friday, following their loss to Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2.
David Miller has become in IPL 2022. The South African’s cracking, 38-bal 68 not out turned the 189-run chase a cruise for the Gujarat Titans. It was the umpteenth time that Miller provided the perfect finishing touches to the Gujarat Titans innings this season. While the quickfire cameos have been plenty, his top score- a match-turning 51-ball unbeaten 94 against Chennai Super Kings at Pune - was a knock for the ages, as he bailed his team out of hail in the company of Rashid Khan. Enjoying by far the best of his nine IPL seasons so far, the 32-year-old South African has scored 449 runs in 15 games at an average of 64.14 to become the top run-scorer for Gujarat Titans in this edition. Playing at No 5, he’s looked far more dangerous than when he turned out for the Rajasthan Royals or Punjab Kings. His solid blows have been a massive factor in GT’s superb run to the final in the franchise’s first season itself.
Early Voting held off hard-charging favorite Epicenter to win the Preakness Stakes on Saturday, validating the decision to skip the Kentucky Derby and aim for the second leg of the Triple Crown.
