Sunrisers Hyderabad continued their turnaround in IPL 2022 after defeating Kolkata Knight Riders by seven wickets for their third straight victory on Friday.
Rahul Tripathi's superlative performance of 71 runs off 37 balls paved way for a comprehensive seven-wicket win for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) match here at the Brabourne Stadium on Friday. In his match-winning performance, Tripathi timed his innings to perfection and picked his bowlers to attack, taking Aman Hakim Khan and Varun Chakravarthy to the cleaners. "I had fun. (Andre) Russell bangs in short, and I was looking for the pull if he bowled short. Varun bowls well. I didn't expect him to bowl up....So I thought of putting him under pressure, " said Tripathi at the post-match presentation ceremony.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Friday, Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) skipper Shreyas Iyer said his team put in a great effort in the game, but it was a bad day as a bowling unit. Brilliant half-centuries by Rahul Tripathi and Aiden Markram led SRH to a comfortable in their IPL 2022 match at the Brabourne Stadium here on Friday. "Feeling very drained. I thought it was a good total. To be honest, Tripathi came in and changed the momentum and didn't allow us to settle. Their bowlers executed the stuff well as the ball was seaming," said Shreyas Iyer in a post-match presentation.
Young SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) pacer Umran Malik has put on an exciting display of fast bowling ever since his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut last year. This year too, he was among the few positives for SRH as they got off to a slow start in IPL 2022. In their win against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Friday, he put on a brilliant display of raw pace, but also added good line and lengths to help restrict the opposition to 175/8. He picked two wickets and gave away just 27 runs in his four overs, and would be especially pleased with how he got rid of KKR captain Shreyas Iyer.
Ex-Knight Tripathi leads Sunrisers Hyderabad to comfortable winFormer Knights are coming hard at Kolkata Knight Riders this season. After Delhi Capitals' Kuldeep Yadav wrecked them in the last match picking up four wickets, it was Rahul Tripathi who laid the foundation for Sunrisers Hyderabad's seven-wicket victory against KKR at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Friday. AS IT HAPPENED | SCORECARD | POINTS TABLEThe KKR top order looked all at sea in trying to negotiate the SRH pacers after being asked to bat first by skipper Kane Williamson on a greenish wicket that offered both bounce and movement. However, some judicious batting by Nitin Rana (54 off 36) and big hits from Andre Russell (49 off 25) towards the end saw KKR put up a fighting 175 for eight. Their bowlers made the right start picking up both the in-form SRH openers - Williamson and Abhishek Sharma - inside the Powerplay. But Tripathi stepped in and started playing his shots all over the park. The Maharashtra batter collected 18 runs, including two consecutive sixes off Varun Chakravarthy's first over. It was a night to forget for Chakravarthy, who ended up giving away 45 runs in his three overs.
Rahul Tripathi and Aiden Markram hit half centuries to guide Sunrisers Hyderabad to a third successive victory in IPL 2022 on Friday, but skipper Kane Williamson said there is scope for improvement. Chasing 176 for victory against Kolkata Knight Riders, Hyderabad rode on a third-wicket partnership of 94 between Tripathi (71) and Markram (68 not out) to achieve their target with 13 balls and seven wickets to spare in Mumbai. Tripathi set the tone for Hyderabad's dominance with his 21-ball fifty and repay the team's faith after he was bought for $1.13 million in the February auction of the Indian Premier League.
Erik ten Hag is keen to revamp his upcoming midfield options, and a report has revealed why Man Utd are well placed to beat Chelsea to an Aurelien Tchouameni transfer.
