MIAMI GARDENS: World number one Aryna Sabalenka blasted her way into the final of the Miami Open with a convincing 6-2 6-2 demolition of Italy’s Jasmine Paolini. Sabalenka needed just 71 minutes to wrap-up her win against the sixth seed and she will now face the winner of Thursday’s other semifinal between American Jessica Pegula and wildcard Alexandra Eala. The win earns the Belarusian, who was beaten in the Indian Wells final earlier this month by Mirra Andreeva, a place in the Miami final for the first time in her career. “I’m super happy with the level I played today. Of course super happy to be in my first Miami Open final,” said Sabalenka. Sabalenka was never behind against Paolini, and the match was only tied twice — at 1-1 in each set.
A fan invaded the pitch to meet Rajasthan Royals stand-in skipper Riyan Parag during the IPL 2025 match against Kolkata Knight Riders in Guwahati on Wednesday. It was a special occasion for Parag as he was captaining the side in his hometown and he even received the loudest cheer of the day from the attending crowd. During the KKR innings, a fan breached security and ran on the field to touch Parag's feet and hug him. Parag was a bit surprised with the gesture and although the incident led to a slight delay in proceedings, the fan was quickly escorted out of the field by the security personnel.

The start of the IPL 2025 campaign has not been good for defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders. Playing at home at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, the Ajinkya Rahane-led side slumped to a seven-wicket loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru. For RCB, left-arm spinner Krunal Pandya was the highest wicket-taker. After the match, KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane Said: “We would love to see the pitch helping the spin bowlers but again, this wicket was under cover for the last one-and-a-half days. Both the spinners we have, the quality they have, they can bowl in any kind of wicket and I am sure they are confident as well.”
