The Delta State government will today, roll out the red carpet to officially welcome the country’s best young athletes to the 18th National Youth Games. Competition in some of the sports started yesterday, but today’s opening ceremony officially opens the competition with the athletes and their officials taking the oath to abide by the rules of the Games.

Over 500 Team Delta athletes have gone into closed camping ahead of the 8th edition of the National Youth Games. Director General of the Delta State Sports Commission, Festus Ohwojero told The Guardian, on Friday, that the closed camping followed the conclusion of the over one month opening camping organised by the Sports Commission.
The Niger Government has approved N25 million for the 8th National Youth Games (NYG) zonal elimination slated for Aug. 28 to Sept.1, in Jos, Plateau.
