The Indian women's hockey team produced a dominating performance to outclass USA 4-0 in the second-leg match to finish a creditable third in its debut season at the FIH Pro League in Rotterdam on Wednesday. The Indians had earlier defeated USA 4-2 in the first match of the double header on Tuesday. Vandana Katariya (39th, 54th) scored a brace, while Sonika (54th) and Sangita Kumari (58th) sounded the board once for India. Argentina have already won the title with Netherlands finishing second.
With the World Cup just over 10 days away, the Indian women's hockey team would look to utilise its last FIH Pro League double-header tie against lowly USA, starting in Rotterdam on Tuesday, to address its weak areas ahead of the marquee event to be co-hosted by the Netherlands and Spain. The Indian women produced a remarkable performance in their debut FIH Pro League season, occupying the third spot in the standings with 24 points from 14 games behind Netherlands (32 points from 14 matches) and Argentina, who have already clinched the title with 42 points from 16 games.

The Indian men's hockey team's FIH Pro League title hopes went up in smoke after suffering a hard-fought 1-2 defeat against the Netherlands in the second match of the two-leg tie in Rotterdam on Sunday. India had lost 1-4 to the Dutch in the shoot-out on Saturday after both the sides finished 2-2 at the end of the regulation 60 minutes. The Indians needed an outright win over the Netherlands to have an outside chance of clinching the tile, but it was not to be.
Gurjit Kaur scored a brace as the Indian women's hockey team dished out a spirited performance to stun Olympic silver medallist Argentina 2-1 in the shoot-out after a 3-3 stalemate in regulation time in the first match of the double-leg FIH Pro League tie in Rotterdam on Saturday. Gurjit's (37th, 61st minutes) two penalty corner conversions and Lalremsiami's (4th) field strike cancelled out Agustina Gorzelany's (22, 37th, 45th) hat-trick to take the match into the shoot-out.
Playing back-to-back Pro League matches in Antwerp, the Savita Punia-led side put on a fighting show but lost the first game 1-2. In the next match though, they were completely outplayed as the Belgians earned a 5-0 win. It could have been more but luckily it wasn't.
