Pakistan completed their highest successful run chase in one-day internationals when they chased down a mammoth target of 349 to beat Australia by six wickets in Lahore to level the series at 1-1 on Thursday.
Alex Carey's poor form with the bat continued as he was dismissed for five runs off 10 deliveries in the ongoing second ODI between Australia and Pakistan at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The wicketkeeper-batter was dismissed by Mohammad Wasim on the second delivery of the 44th over. Carey tried to drive on the up but outside edged the length delivery behind the wicket to Mohammad Rizwan, who took a low diving catch to his left. It was also Wasim's second wicket of the day as he finished with figures of 2/56 in 10 overs.

With Pakistan aiming to level the series after Australia won the first ODI, Shaheen dismissed Australia skipper Aaron Finch for a first-ball duck. Shaheen was probably trying to bowl a yorker but it turned out to be a full toss around middle and leg. He, however, still managed to get some movement on the ball as Finch completely missed his flick. As a result, the ball went on to hit Finch's front foot and umpire was quick to raise his finger.

The visitors on Tuesday took a 1-0 lead in three-match ODI series after beating the hosts by 88 runs at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. While the Australian team continues to draw praise from the cricketing fraternity, Pakistan have once again come under scrutiny of several current and former cricketer. Speaking on his YouTube channel, former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt slammed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), saying that the current management lacks vision for future planning.

Chasing a target of 314 runs, Pakistan were bowled out for 225 in 45.2 overs. Despite a century by Imam-ul-Haq (103 off 96 balls), the hosts failed to put in a consistent batting showing. Adam Zampa was in excellent form and took four wickets in 10 overs for Australia. Meanwhile, a century by Travis Head (101 off 72 balls) helped Australia post 313 for seven in 50 overs, setting a target of 314 runs. Haris Rauf and Zahid Mahmood were in good form for Pakistan's bowling department and took two wickets each.
