Kolkata Knight Riders' chase against Punjab Kings in their IPL match on Saturday was delayed by almost half an hour due to floodlight malfunction. The PCA-IS Bindra Stadium here has a total of six floodlights at a comparatively lower height. Floodlight malfunction is common at Indian stadiums and on the day, once KKR came out to bat, a lot of bulbs in multiple towers didn't turn on and it became a frustrating wait for the players, who then went inside the dressing room. The onus on stadium maintenance lies with Punjab Cricket Association and the inordinate delay was certainly an embarrassment for the local unit.

Punjab Kings skipper Shikhar Dhawan equalled Virat Kohli's massive feat during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 opener against Kolkata Knight Riders in Mohali on Saturday. The PBKS skipper was once again at his gritty best as he stitched together a solid 50-run partnership with Sri Lanka's Bhanuka Rajapaksa for the second wicket. This was the 94th 50-run partnership for Dhawan in IPL history and he is now joint-top with Virat Kohli as the batsmen with the most half-century partnerships. Suresh Raina is third with 83 while David Warner is in fourth position with 82.
