IPL 2022: Ravi Shastri Wants CSK Captain Ravindra Jadeja To Bat "No Later Than..."

IPL 2022 is underway with the clash between CSK and KKR and it promises to be yet another glittering tournament. CSK have a new captain in Ravindra Jadeja and the in-form all-rounder needs to lead by example, just like his predecessor MS Dhoni. Jadeja has been in excellent batting form over the past few years and cricket fans and pundits have often felt that the southpaw bats a tad too low in CSK's batting order.

IPL 2022, CSK vs KKR: Umesh Yadav Sends Back Ruturaj Gaikwad In Very First Over. Watch

IPL 2022 began in a disastrous fashion for defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as they lost the wicket of opening batter Ruturaj Gaikwad in the first over of the campaign opener against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Gaikwad, the Orange Cap winner from last season, chased a widish delivery outside the off stump and ended up edging it to Nitish Rana in the slips.

CSK vs KKR, IPL 2022, Live Updates: Defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the season opener of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. IPL 2022: Pratham Singh looking to dazzle in KKR colours

Pratham Singh boasts of a solid academic background having completed his engineering and cracked India's top business school, ISB, but all he is really passionate about is cricket. The 29-year-old from Delhi has been a consistent performer for Railways in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and even though he was picked up by now-defunct IPL franchise Gujarat Lions in 2017, he didn't get any game time. A five-year long wait followed, which finally ended when he was picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders at the last mega auction.

New format, rules, captains: Why IPL 2022 is bigger, better and more exciting

IPL) starting Saturday has become the most evolved cash-rich league, which promises to be bigger, better and more exciting than ever before. The two new franchises will add a new flavour to the IPL, which can completely change the dynamics of the league. The RPSG Group has picked Lucknow as their home base with a winning bid of a whopping Rs 7,090 crore, while Irelia Company Pte Ltd (CVC Capital Partners) opted for Ahmedabad with a bid of Rs 5,625 crore. With the addition of the two teams -- Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans -- the organisers decided to conduct a mega auction in order to give equal opportunity to every team to pick players of their choice and build a strong side. And the franchises did exactly that on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru by adding some talented overseas as well as domestic cricketers to their sides. Though there are some noticeable weaknesses in the teams, overall, they have tried to build solid squads. Adding to the excitement, as many as six franchises -- RCB, CSK, KKR, LSG, GT and PBKS -- will have new captains, who have either left their past franchises, or are donning the skipper's hat for the first time.

IPL 2022: Amul's Social Media Post For Chennai's New "Superking" Ahead Of Tournament Opener

The cricketing world took notice when MS Dhoni handed over Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) captaincy duties to star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja earlier this week. One of the most successful and influential captains of the Indian Premier League, MS Dhoni shocked one and all when he decided that it was time to hand over the captaincy responsibilities and the future of the team to star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. This change at the helm comes for the first time in CSK's regime ever since the inception of the IPL in 2008 and it could take a while that the CSK and fans around the world come to terms with it. Jadeja will surely have some big shoes to fill with Dhoni leading the franchise to four IPL titles, the latest being last season in 2021.
