England And Pakistan Build For T20 World Cup In Long-Awaited Series

Pakistan and England continue their build-up for next month's T20 World Cup in Australia when they begin a seven-match series in Karachi on Tuesday -- the tourists' first visit since 2005. The long-awaited return of England comes five months after a trouble-free tour by Australia, their first in 24 years, which helped Pakistan's rehabilitation as a safe place to play cricket. International cricket has gradually returned to Pakistan following years where they were forced to play home matches in neutral venues after a deadly attack on the Sri Lanka team bus in 2009.

Former Pakistan Pacer Hints At Babar Azam's Slow Strike Rate With Sarcastic Example

Former Pakistan pacer Aaqib Javed has come out and made a strong statement on Babar Azam and his strike rate in T20Is. Javed claimed that in big chases, having Babar and Mohammad Rizwan can be detrimental for Pakistan as they are similar players and they tend to let the required run-rate go too high. Javed, who is the Director of Cricket for Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), also said that the team selection for the T20 World Cup is still "doubtful", especially raising questions about the batting composition.

"Shaheen Paying For Rehabilitation, PCB Hasn't Done Anything": Shahid Afridi Alleges

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) selectors named a 15-member squad for the 2022 T20 World Cup on Thursday. They included young left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, who is currently recovering from injury, in the squad. Shaheen, 22, injured his knee while fielding during the first Test in Sri Lanka in July and missed the Asia Cup earlier this month. The lanky left-arm paceman will also miss the seven-match T20I series against England starting in Karachi from September 20 but chief selector Mohammad Wasim said his injury is being monitored. "We are assessing Shaheen's injury and hope that he will be fit," Wasim said in a press conference in Lahore.
