China will host the 2022 Asian Games in 2023, organisers said on Tuesday (Jul 19), after postponing the event in Hangzhou because of COVID-19.
The Games will now be held in Hangzhou from September 23 to October 8 2023, the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) said. The event was originally scheduled to be held in September this year, but organisers in May postponed it as China tried to stamp out a large Covid resurgence in several parts of the country.

Tokyo: Japanese figure skating star Yuzuru Hanyu has called a press conference later Tuesday (Jul 19), with speculation swirling that the "Ice Prince" will announce his retirement from competition after struggling with injury at this year's Winter Olympics.
Two-time world champion Yuzuru Hanyu has called a press conference to make a “major announcement”, according to his management company. Kyodo News has reported that Hanyu will speak to the media at 5pm in Tokyo, with rumours circulating that the 27-year-old could retire from competitive figure skating following a series of injuries on the ice.
Back-to-back NCAA champion Randolph Ross was booted from the world track and field championships on the eve of his 400 metre preliminary race, about a month after officials could not locate him to take an anti-doping test.
