IPL 2022, CSK vs RCB: Harshal Patel has ability to stop the game, RCB missed that, admits skipper Faf du Plessis after defeat against CSK

Faf du Plessis admitted that Royal Challengers Bangalore missed the services of their pacer Harshal Patel in their defeat against Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2022 on Tuesday. Notably, Harshal was not part of RCB's playing XI against Chennai at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy as the pacer had to leave the IPL bio bubble to return home after news of his sister's tragic death. Sources in RCB had said that Harshal exited the bubble on Sunday after the game against Mumbai Indians on Saturday. It is not yet clear how long Harshal will remain unavailable for the RCB team. Faf du Plessis in the post-match presentation said: "First 7-8 overs were pretty good, then there was a period from 8-14 where Dube took the spinners on. That period, whatever we tried didn't work. In order to chase down such a big score, you need one of the first four to set the foundation. We didn't have that. CSK used their spinners well on a pitch that had some grip. The way we came back was credit to the depth."

IPL 2022, CSK vs RCB: Dube-Robin show helps Chennai Super Kings beat Royal Challengers Bangalore, snap losing streak

RCB, but they weren't the usual suspects. Shivam Dube and Robin Uthappa are not the big-ticket superstars of this CSK team, but they showed that they can turn it on when required. In 12.1 overs, they put up 165 runs, which helped CSK blaze away to 216/4 and notch up their first win of the season after four straight losses. AS IT HAPPENED | SCORECARD | POINTS TABLEWith 36/2 in the seventh over, the stage seemed set for another CSK struggle. The RCB bowlers had stifled the top-order and the two stars - Ruturaj Gaikwad and Moeen Ali - were back in the hut. That's when Uthappa (88 off 50 balls) and Dube (95 off 46 balls) took over. Dube has played a lot of his cricket at the DY Patil Stadium and he knows what to expect from the pitch. Uthappa, on the other hand, is a natural timer of the ball, and when it is his day, it's difficult to keep the Karnataka man quiet.
