However, during RCB's game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Tuesday, Kohli stood in as captain of the team as du Plessis decided to take some rest following his 96-run knock at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

"I think we started really well, after getting 2 wickets in the first over and then give away 50 in the powerplay, we could have done better. 180 on that pitch was 15-20 extra runs we gave away, we couldn't really squeeze in the middle and with the bat as well we needed one in the top three to go deep and the other batters to bat around him and unfortunately we couldn't do that. We have a really good team, very happy with how we are playing, yes a couple of games we could have done better," said KL Rahul in a post-match presentation.

Faf du Plessis's 96-run knock and Josh Hazlewood's four-wicket haul helped Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Lucknow Super Giants by 18 runs at the Dr DY Patil Stadium. Harshal Patel bagged two wickets for the team. Faf du Plessis, RCB skipper, who was adjudged as 'Player of the Match' in the post-match presentation said, "Due to the nature of this ground, you do run a lot of 2s and towards the end, it can be tiring. I got a few 96, and a 97, so hopefully (a ton) is around the corner."
Royal Challengers Bangalore pacer Josh Hazlewood said he "got pretty lucky" with his very wide delivery that was not called wide by the umpire, leading to Marcus Stoinis' wicket in their IPL match against Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday. Chasing 182, Stoinis got out in the second ball of the 19th over after he shuffled way too much outside off, an act prompted by the previous Hazlewood delivery that landed almost off the pitch. With Stoinis going way across, the pacer went beyond the tramline and bowled it way outside off but the umpire, instead of calling it wide, deemed the delivery legal, much to the batter's chagrin.

RR's Shimron Hetmyer was batting on 14 when he was dropped by Krunal and the Windies batsman made a mockery of the LSG bowlers and piled on an unbeaten 59 off 36 balls to help RR post 165 on the board. In reply, LSG managed 162 and lost the match by 3 runs.
