Nigeria looking to bounce back today against Turkey, Chile

After narrow losses to Chinese Taipei and Bulgaria in their second group matches of the ongoing World School Basketball Championships holding in Serbia, Nigeria’s Bishop Dimieari Grammar School and St Jude’s Girls Secondary School are looking to bounce back to winning ways against Turkey and Chile in their third games of the tournament today.     The boys’ team first tasted defeat against their Chinese Taipei counterparts, losing 35 to 45 points to record their first loss in the competition. The girls’ team followed same lane against Bulgaria, as they were beaten 41 to 55 points to drop to second place in their groups.

Indian wrestler Nisha Dahiya missed out on a World Championship medal as she lost to former world champion Linda Morais of Canada in the women's 68kg bronze play-off here on Thursday. The 24-year-old Nisha, who won a bronze in the U-23 World Championships in 65kg last year, lost to Morais who took the bronze in a victory by fall (VFA) verdict. Nisha made headlines last year when she was mistaken with a namesake wrestler killed in Sonipat.
