Mexican flavour at LIV’s Adelaide stop as Rahm lurks

ADELAIDE: Mexican pair Abraham Ancer and Carlos Ortiz joined Sam Horsfield in a three-way share of the lead at LIV Golf’s Adelaide stop on Saturday, with major champion Jon Rahm lurking four shots off the pace. Ancer nailed six birdies to a bogey in a five-under-par 67 in front of bumper crowds at a blustery Grange Golf Club, while his compatriot mixed five birdies and a bogey in his 68. British overnight leader Horsfield birdied the last to card a 69 and ensure he stayed in the hunt heading into the final day, with all three nine-under after 36 holes. “I just tried to stay patient and hit as many greens as possible. I knew the putter was feeling good,” said Ancer, who is gunning for a second LIV title after winning in Hong Kong last year. “I have a lot of confidence when the greens are rolling nice and firm and fast, so I just try to put the ball in play and don’t get in too much trouble because you can make a lot of bogeys out here, especially with this wind.” Ortiz, who is also looking for a second tour win after victory at Tucson in 2023, said the conditions were tough. “I thought it was tricky.

"Worst Performance Since...": Enzo Maresca Slams Chelsea's Dismal 0-3 Loss To Brighton

Enzo Maresca admitted Chelsea's dismal 3-0 defeat at Brighton was the "worst performance" of his reign as Japan forward Kaoru Mitoma produced a contender for Premier League goal of the season on Friday. Maresca's hapless side failed to muster a shot on target in their second defeat in the space of seven days at the Amex Stadium. Mitoma scored the winner when Brighton knocked Chelsea out of the FA Cup fourth round with a 2-1 victory last weekend. He tormented the Blues again with a breathtaking piece of skill in the first half before Gambia winger Yankuba Minteh netted either side of the interval.

Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola Taunts Liverpool, Says "We Took All The Records..."

Pep Guardiola has taunted Premier League leaders Liverpool over their failure to match Manchester City's record 100-point tally. Guardiola's troubled side are trailing 16 points behind Liverpool after their bid for a fifth successive English crown collapsed in astonishing fashion. Liverpool are seven points clear of second-placed Arsenal as they chase a 20th title, which would equal Manchester United's record. But even if Arne Slot's men go on to secure the trophy, they now cannot match the record points total set when City won the first of Guardiola's six titles in 2017-18.
