He's signed a letter to Transport Secretary Mark Harper, together with Andy Burnham, the Mayor of Greater Manchester, in which they say collectively: "Build it once and build it right."
England team bus was held up by protesters while on its way to the Lord's for the opening day of the one-off Test against Ireland, wicketkeeper-batter Jonny Bairstow shared on social media on Thursday. The protesters under the aegis of 'Just Stop Oil' demanded that the British government should "halt all licences and consents for new oil, gas and coal projects". Sharing this in his Instagram story, Bairstow wrote: "If we're a bit late it's not our fault", even as several 'Just Stop Oil' protesters and security personnel can be seen surrounding the bus in the middle of the road.

In over 140 years of Test cricket in England, Australia have had one of the worst records at The Oval, which will host the final from June 7 to 11 between the top two Test sides. Australia, who played at The Oval in 1880 in what was the first-ever Test in England, have managed a mere seven wins from 38 Tests at the famous South London venue, putting their success rate at the venue at 18.42 per cent, their poorest across England.
