Former Formula One driver Daniil Kvyat says Russians must not be banned from sport amid the crisis in Ukraine.
Dressed in Ukraine's blue and gold colours, a fired-up Elina Svitolina thrashed Russian Anastasia Potapova in Mexico on Tuesday and said it was her mission to unite the tennis world behind her country following Russia's invasion.
Svitolina said on Monday she would not play against players from Russian or Belarus -- unless they were competing under a neutral banner -- as a protest against Russia's invastion of her homeland.
Russian and Belarus ice skaters have been barred from all competitions over the invasion of Ukraine, the International Skating Union announced on Tuesday. "The ISU Council... agreed that with immediate effect and until further notice, no skaters belonging to the ISU Members in Russia and Belarus shall be invited or allowed to participate in international ice skating competitions," the body said in a statement. Russia is a powerhouse in ice skating most recently winning six medals -- two of them gold -- at the Beijing Winter Olympics.

US Olympic chiefs threw their support behind International Olympic Committee calls for Russian athletes to be barred from international competition following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
