Despite a staggered arrival in the Caribbean after the Indian Premier League (IPL), Australia all-rounder Cameron Green believes the side is eager to play their first encounter against Oman at the T20 World Cup. Green, who experienced a "quite ridiculous" amount of travel in 2023, said the 38-hour flight to join the Australian squad, which only resulted in one lost bag, was something he was now used to. The all-rounder was given a few days at home in Perth after RCB were eliminated from the IPL a week ago, and his journey to Barbados was comparatively smooth compared to that of several of his teammates.

The runners-up will receive at least USD 1.28 million (Rs 10.36 crore), while the losing semi-finalists walk away with USD 787,500 each. Lost luggage, flight delays and gusty winds on landing summed up the Australian cricket team's rather tumultuous arrival for the T20 World Cup but all-rounder Ashton Agar said a cruise along the city's stunning coastline was all it needed to calm the players. Australia will open their campaign against Oman on June 5 (June 6 at 6am IST). Pace spearhead Pat Cummins and fellow fast bowler Mitchell Starc had come back to Australia after the IPL for a short break and while heading to the West Indies, the former lost his luggage which eventually did reach him, according to a report in 'cricket.com.au'. "Flight delays also affected Starc and Maxwell, as the pair had to spend a night in Los Angeles and then another night in Miami en route to Barbados after their own brief trips back to Australia following the IPL," the website reported.
Namibia registered a thrilling victory over Oman to begin their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign on a positive note in Barbados on Monday. The Gerhard Erasmus-led side won the game in Super Over as Namibia slammed 21 runs and Oman could score just 10 in response. Batting first, Oman were all out for 109 with Ruben Trumpelmann claiming 4 wickets and David Wiese taking three. In reply, Jan Frylinck scored 45 but a tight bowling display from Mehran Khan took the game to the Super Over.
A sunset catamaran cruise on the blue waters of Barbados was the perfect way for Australia to bond before knuckling down to the business of winning the T20 World Cup, bowler Ashton Agar said.
Oman were denied a dramatic fightback victory in their opening T20 World Cup game on Sunday night as Namibia sealed the points in a Super Over following a low-scoring thriller in Barbados.
