Rohit Sharma Reaches Mumbai After CT Celebrations. Report Says "Virat Kohli Left Hotel..."

The Indian cricketers, led by Rohit Sharma, have made a quiet return home following their triumph in the Champions Trophy in Dubai. After leading India to their second ICC title in nine months, skipper Rohit landed back in Mumbai on Monday night. The squad members have got a week off before they join their respective IPL teams ahead of the tournament beginning March 22. "All the players with families left from Dubai on Monday. There are some players who have stayed back for a couple of days," a BCCI source told PTI.

Watch: Priceless Anushka Sharma-Rohit Sharma Moment After India's Champions Trophy Triumph

Team India defeated New Zealand in a closely-fought ICC Champions Trophy final on Sunday to further heal the wounds it had sustained with the defeat in the final of the ODI World Cup 2023. While the elusive 50-over World Cup title continues to be missing from Rohit's resume, he did become the second Indian captain to win more than one ICC title by clinching the coveted trophy in Dubai. As celebrations began after India's triumphant performance, Rohit also had a warm exchange with Anushka Sharma, the wife of Indian cricket icon Virat Kohli.

Rohit Sharma Retirement Hint Out With Huge Ajit Agarkar Development, Report Clears Picture

After serving Indian cricket for long, not just with his tremendous batting skills but also as a leader of the pack, skipper Rohit Sharma is likely to take a call on his ODI future after the conclusion of Champions Trophy, irrespective of the outcome. 'Captain Rohit' is tipped to become the second skipper after Mahendra Singh Dhoni to win more than one ICC event as India will enter the title clash against New Zealand as overwhelming favourites. After the T20 World Cup final in Barbados, both Rohit and Virat Kohli announced immediate retirement from the shortest format and now as the D-day looms, there is speculation that this could well be the last match for Rohit in India blues.

Axar Patel: From Journeyman To India's Man Friday In White-Ball Formats

Kane Williamson stood between India and an all-win record in the Champions Trophy group stage, keeping New Zealand's chase of 250 flickering with a polished 81. Till then batting judiciously, Williamson gave a full-hearted charge against Axar Patel and the slightly slanted delivery evaded his downcoming bat for KL Rahul to complete the stumping. It was the last ball of Axar's spell that read 10-0-32-1, and stood out for its accuracy and the cunningness to maximise his ability in favourable conditions. But the effort understandably went unnoticed in the din surrounding fellow spinner Varun Chakravarthy's five-wicket haul.

After Win vs New Zealand, India All-Rounder Axar Patel Reveals "The Match" Which Gave Him "Self-Belief"

Axar Patel is quickly positioning himself as an useful all-rounder in white ball formats, and for him "self-belief" is the key ingredient in that transformation. In the latest instance, Axar made a handy 42 and then claimed the prized wicket of Kane Williamson with his left-arm spin to play an important role in India's 44-run win over New Zealand in a Champions Trophy match in Dubai on Sunday. "I was not able to click earlier and it was in the back of the mind that I was not able to show my talent. Maybe, I was putting more pressure on myself back then, despite knowing that I have the talent," Axar said in a mixed zone interaction with reporters here.

Why India Will Prefer Dangerous Australia In Champions Trophy Semi-Final, Sunil Gavaskar Explains

Legendary batter Sunil Gavaskar has explained why India would prefer facing Australia, rather than South Africa, in the semi-final of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy. South Africa on Saturday became the final team to book their place in the semi-finals, joining India, New Zealand and Australia. The Proteas topped Group B ahead of the reigning 50-over world champions Australia. India will find out their Champions Trophy semi-final opponents after their final group match against New Zealand on Sunday in Dubai. If India beat the Kiwis, they will take on Australia in the first semi-final on Tuesday at the Dubai International Stadium.

Rohit Sharma And Co Rewarded With Personalised Diamond-Studded Rings. Reason Is...

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has rewarded Rohit Sharma-led T20 World Cup-winning team with personalised diamond-studded rings. Taking a leaf out of American sports leagues such as the NBA and NFL's play books, the BCCI rewarded the players with the "Champions" rings during the Naman Awards 2025 in Mumbai last week. Last year, India defeated South Africa in Barbados to lift the T20 World Cup title, country's first major success since the 2013 Champions Trophy.
