PCB Breaks Silence On Reports Of Rohit Sharma Not Travelling For Champions Trophy Ceremony

A Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official has expressed concerns over the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) alleged decision of not sending India captain Rohit Sharma to Pakistan for the opening ceremony of the Champions Trophy 2025 set to begin on February 19. Rohit was also expected to attend the customary captains' photo shoot and the pre-event press conference in Pakistan. For the unversed, India will play all their Champions Trophy matches in Dubai including the clash against Pakistan on February 23. Meanwhile, the BCCI has neither denied sending Rohit to Pakistan nor confirmed his travel. However, the PCB official further conveyed his disappointment over reports that the Indian team would not wear Pakistan's name on their tournament jersey.

'Don't Need To Prove Anything To Anyone': Axar Patel's Blunt Take On T20I Vice-Captaincy

A contender to take veteran Ravindra Jadeja's place permanently at some point, spin-bowling all-rounder Axar Patel is aware of the possibilities that may arise during India's big Test transition but he doesn't feel the need to prove "anything to anyone" to make his case. Axar, who turned 31 on Monday, has been Jadeja's under-study for the past decade with same skill-sets but with a bit of less finesse than his fellow senior Gujarati. In his 11-year-international career, Axar has taken 184 wickets across three formats and 55 of them have come in 14 Tests, two of which were in Bangladesh when Jadeja was unfit.

Nigeria scored 65-6 batting first, before producing an energetic display on the field derailed New Zealand's run chase. The Kiwis were 57-5, needing nine runs with one over to go in the 13-over contest. However, tight bowling from pacer Lilian Udeh got them over the line with the Kiwis falling short by just two runs.
