IPL 2022 - Afghan Opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz Likely To Replace Jason Roy In Gujarat Titans: Report

Gujarat Titans will in all likelihood be replacing Jason Roy with Rahmanullah Gurbaz, the hard hitting Afghan opener, for the upcoming Indian Premier League. Roy had pulled out of the IPL as he didn't want to stay in the bubble for a prolonged period. Apart from having a 150-plus career T20 strike rate as an opener, Gurbaz is also a handy keeper which makes him a multi utility player. The most exciting aspect is the 20-year-old's ability to clear the ropes with 113 sixes in 69 career T20 games.

India will be looking to build on from the momentum gained after their comprehensive 107-run win in their first match against arch-rivals Pakistan. New Zealand, on the other hand, won a rain-curtailed match against Bangladesh women by nine wickets in their second game of the tournament, having lost the tournament opener against West Indies women by 3 runs.

South Africa have named a largely unchanged one-day international squad for the three-match home series with Bangladesh from March 18 to 23, with only all-rounder Sisanda Magala missing out after he failed a fitness test. Women's ODI Rankings: Mithali Raj Drops To 4th, Meg Lanning Rises To 2nd

The first five games of ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2022 have caused a lot of movement in the latest update of the ICC Women's ODI Player Rankings. Australia skipper Meg Lanning climbed up two spots in the latest women's rankings for ODI batters. She is now just one and 15 rating points away from the top spot that's currently occupied by her teammate Alyssa Healy. Lanning was in sublime form in the first game of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup against England, smashing 86 in 110 balls seven fours and a six, which helped Australia post a massive total of 310. They eventually won the game in the last over by 12 runs.

Bangladesh Cricket Board Questions Shakib Al Hasan's Commitment After His Refusal To Tour South Africa

Questioning Shakib Al Hasan's commitment to the national team after his assertion that he needs time off international cricket and might skip the ODI series against South Africa, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan asked whether the former skipper would have wanted a similar break from the IPL had he been picked in the auction. Shakib had initially refused to play the Test series against South Africa as he wanted to make himself available for the IPL but he went unsold at the IPL auction.

Bangladesh Cricket Board president questions Shakib Al Hasan's commitment towards country

Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan has slammed Shakib Al Hasan after the all-rounder expressed his willingness to take a break from international cricket and not tour South Africa. Hassan also went on to question Shakib's commitment towards international cricket, asking whether he would have wanted a similar break from the Indian Premier League (IPL) had he been picked in the mega auction. "I think it is logical to think that if he was in a poor physical and mental state, he wouldn't have given his name in the IPL auction. But he went ahead with it. So does it mean that if he got his IPL contract, he would have said the same thing? We can't do anything if he doesn't want to play for Bangladesh," ESPNcricinfo quoted Hassan as saying.
