The 22-year-old youngster had a memorable outing in the recently concluded three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe that also saw him scoring his maiden ton (130 off 97 balls) in the last game in Harare. Meanwhile, former Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who did not feature in the ODI series against Zimbabwe, held on to his fifth position with a rating points of 744.

Bangladesh is facing some selection woes ahead of Asia Cup with two of its players Hasan Mahmud and wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan Sohan having suffered injuries. Hasan, who damaged his ankle during training last week, will be out of action for up to a month, and Nurul, who just had surgery on a finger injury, requires time to rest the wounded area. Bangladesh were dealt a blow last month when Liton Das suffered a hamstring injury and has been left out of the squad.

The direct qualification road to ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 for the West Indies cricket team seems more distant now after two Super League points were deducted in connection with slow over-rate in the third ODI match against New Zealand. Pooran-led West Indies team was found guilty of not completing their overs in the allotted time and hence was penalized by docking two Super League points. The call was made by the match referee Richie Richardson even after allowances for the slow rate were considered.

He almost won the game for the men in red. Shubman, who was adjudged Man of the Match in the third ODI for his astonishing 130 off 97 balls, including 15 fours and 1 six, rushed to a departing Raza and gave him a pat on his back. Zimbabwe were bowled out for 276, which handed India a 13-run win over the hosts and a 3-0 clean sweep victory. Born in Sialkot (in Pakistan) in 1986, Raza was Zimbabwe's highest-run getter in the match and the third overall in the three-match ODI series. He scored 143 runs in 3 matches at an average of 47.67. The 36-year-old Raza, who made his international debut in 2013 vs Bangladesh in Bulawayo, has played 17 Tests, 120 ODIs, and 58 T20Is for Zimbabwe, scoring 1187, 3626, and 1040 runs, respectively.

Asia Cup: Bangladesh recall batsman Naim, Nurul out

Bangladesh have recalled batsman Mohammad Naim for the Asia Cup starting this week after wicketkeeper-batsman Nurul Hasan and pace bowler Hasan Mahmud were ruled out with injury. Naim, who has featured 34 times in Twenty20 internationals, will join the squad in the UAE from the West Indies where he was playing for Bangladesh "A". Nurul was kept in the squad despite undergoing finger surgery in Singapore last week, in the hope that he would be ready for the tournament when it starts on Saturday.

Bangladesh stripped head coach Russell Domingo of his role overseeing the Twenty20 side and told him to focus on Test and one-day international cricket, just days before the Asia Cup. Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hassan said that former Indian cricketer Sridharan Sriram, named last week as the technical consultant, will look after the T20 side. "Russell Domingo won't be part of the T20 set-up. He will be with ODIs and Tests," Nazmul told a press briefing in Dhaka. "There's no 'head coach' for the T20 side," he added.
