India will host Pakistan for the first time in seven years after the schedule for the 2023 men's ODI World Cup was released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday.
Former Indian cricket team all-rounder Suresh Raina revealed that MS Dhoni is the trickiest bowler he has faced at the nets. In a recent interaction with Jio Cinema, Raina said that the legendary Sri Lankan duo of Lasith Malinga and Muttiah Muralidharan are the toughest bowlers he has faced but quickly added that playing Dhoni at the nets was extremely difficult. He explained that Dhoni came up with a lot of variations while bowling and even joked about how he justified bowling front foot no-balls.

The defending champions England will take on the runners-up of the 2019 World Cup, New Zealand in the opening match of the tournament in Ahmedabad. India will be playing their opening match on October 8 against Australia in Chennai. Afghanistan will be opening their campaign against Bangladesh on October 7 in Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh. This means the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai -- another venue with a rich legacy -- could lose out on organising one of the biggest games of the ODI showpiece. "Mumbai's Wankhede and Kolkata's Eden Gardens are two likely venues for the World Cup semi finals. Earlier, Chennai was also in the race but it seems Eden is slightly ahead now," a BCCI source told PTI on Monday.

The likely new chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Zaka Ashraf has rejected his predecessor Najam Sethi's much-publicised "hybrid model" for the upcoming Asia Cup, which is slated to be held in Pakistan and Sri Lanka in September. "The first point is that I had rejected the hybrid model (for Asia Cup) in the past itself - because I do not agree with it. The board of the Asian Cricket Council had decided that it should be held in Pakistan, then we should host it," Ashraf said during a press conference in the Pakistan capital on Wednesday.
