The video clip, which has gone viral on social media, showed Kohli looking to cross the street in London. Kohli earlier travelled to London following India's T20 World Cup 2024 triumph and he was previously seen with wife Anushka Sharma and newborn son Akaay. Ousted Bangladeshi lawmaker and cricketer Shakib Al Hasan was given permission on Wednesday to remain with the national side in Pakistan by the de facto leaders who toppled his old boss. Shakib, a former Bangladesh captain, took office in January as a lawmaker for ousted ex-premier Sheikh Hasina's Awami League party after elections staged without any genuine opposition. He lost that job last week when parliament was dissolved after Hasina abruptly resigned and fled to India by helicopter in a dramatic conclusion to a student-led national uprising. One of those student leaders, 26-year-old Asif Mahmud, is now the de facto sports minister in an interim government and granted Shakib permission to remain with the team despite his ties to Hasina and the Awami League.
Former South Africa pace great Morne Morkel has been roped in as the Indian cricket team's new bowling coach, BCCI secretary Jay Shah told PTI on Wednesday, completing the appointment of new head coach Gautam Gambhir's preferred support staff. It is understood that the 39-year-old, who replaces Paras Mhambrey, will take over as the bowling coach from the Bangladesh series that starts with the opening Test in Chennai from September 19. He has been appointed till the end of the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that spectators will not be allowed during the second Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh due to ongoing renovations at Karachi's National Stadium. The PCB made this decision in light of the ongoing construction at the venue, which is being prepared for the ICC Champions Trophy set to be held in Pakistan next year. In a statement released on Wednesday, the PCB said that fans won't be allowed in the Karachi Stadium for the second Test.
The BCCI men's selection committee on Wednesday announced the squads for the first round of the 2024-25 Duleep Trophy. "Yes, Morne Morkel has been appointed bowling coach of the senior India men's team," Shah told PTI.
Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood has disagreed with the statement made by teammate and fast bowler Naseem Shah that there is a language barrier between the team and foreign coaches. With former Australian cricketer Jason Gillespie taking over as Pakistan's new red ball head coach ahead of the two-Test series against Bangladesh, Naseem had said that players face difficulties in communication when the coach is a foreigner. However, Masood has vehemently disagreed with Naseem's statement, saying that Pakistan have made huge strides in improving in that regard.
