India vs Bangladesh: No More International Games In Kanpur After 'Washout' Row? Report Says...

Despite a rain-free morning and bright sunshine later in the day, day three's play of the second Test between India and Bangladesh was called off without a ball being bowled at the Green Park Stadium. The unexpected cause? A ‘wet outfield'. Frustration grew as both teams remained at their hotel, while match officials inspected the field three times, all without covers. But there was no play, leading to two days now lost due to rain. Shiv Kumar, the pitch curator of the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) maintained that everything was under control in Kanpur. But he admitted to having confusion regarding the match officials' reservations. “They gave us three different time for inspection but never told us what is the issue. Which area was wet or whatever is the problem. I told them that you can start the match but if you have any concern let me know,” he told IANS.

Duleep Trophy Likely To Return To Zonal Format From Next Season

The Duleep Trophy is set to return to its traditional zonal from next year after the state units gave a thumbs down to the four-team concept introduced this season. The red-ball event featured four teams -- India A, India B, India C, India D. India A beat India C to win the competition earlier this month. Usually, six teams from as many zones -- central, east, west, north, south and north east -- take part in the tournament, providing more opportunities to the players from their respective zones. "The state units felt the format used this season did not give a fair representation to the players from their respective zones. The traditional zonal format gives players more opportunities zone wise and that is what was conveyed in the AGM today," a state unit official told PTI after the BCCI AGM in Bengaluru.

India vs Bangladesh: "So Embarrassing" - Internet Fumes As Wet Outfield Spoils Play In Kanpur Test

The day three of the second Test between India and Bangladesh at the Green Park Stadium was abandoned on Sunday without a ball being bowled due to wet outfield. Though it did not rain so far today, there were still some wet patches in the ground, including one near the bowler's run up area. The outfield could not be dried out despite the covers being peeled off. Even the second day of action was abandoned due to rain. If India does not get a win in this Test, it could make their journey towards a hat-trick of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final in the UK a little more tight, requiring them to beat New Zealand in three-match home Test series (from October 16 onwards) and Australia in five-Test series away from home (from November 22 onwards) by much bigger scorelines and margins.

Ajit Agarkar And Co. Snub Two Performing Stars For Bangladesh T20Is, Face Heat On Internet

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a 15-member T20I squad for the upcoming series against Bangladesh following the end of the ongoing two-match Test series. The absence of some of the performing stars from the team, particularly Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan, saw fans vent their anger on social media, taking a swipe at selection committee chief Ajit Agarkar for the decision. Right-handed batter Suryakumar Yadav continues to lead the team in the shortest format of the game while Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma were picked as the wicketkeeper-batters in the side. But, the absence of Ruturaj and Ishan left fans completely baffled.

India vs Bangladesh Kanpur Test: Wet Outfield Wipes Out Play For Second Consecutive Day

No play was possible for the second consecutive day in the second Test between India and Bangladesh due to a wet outfield at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. Overnight rain had caused a delay to the start of action but even as the sun was shining bright around 2:00pm and there were no soggy patches on the ground, the officials decided to call off the play. Almost eight sessions have been lost in the game due to persistent rain that has played havoc with the final match of the two-game series. Questions on the drainage system used at the venue have been duly raised.
