D Gukesh, R Praggnanandhaa, Arjun Erigaisi and Vidit Gujarathi have entered the last eight stage of the world tournament, being played in Baku, Azerbaijan. "It is a historic moment for Indian chess because we had a good hand, which is multiple players who are playing, who are all good... good enough level to qualify to the final stages," said Anand in a video shared by chess.com.

Indian Grandmaster Vidit Gujrathi on Monday stunned Russian GM Ian Nepomniachtchi via the tie-breaker to reach the quarterfinals of the FIDE Chess World Cup in Baku (Azerbaijan). He defeated Nepomniachtchi 2-0 in the 10-minute rapid segment of the tie-break to qualify for the quarterfinals for a second time. Gujrathi joins a trio of fellow Indians -- D Gukesh, R Praggnanandhaa and Arjun Erigaisi -- in the last eight, a first for the country. Gujrathi and Nepomniachtchi had drawn the two-game classical match and the two tie-break games. He will meet Nijat Abasov of Azerbaijan in the quarterfinals.

MYAS Funds 34 Indian Shooters For ISSF Shooting World Championships In Baku

Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) is funding the participation of the Indian contingent for the upcoming ISSF World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan where a total of 34 Indian shooters, including 17 men and 17 women would be participating. The financial assistance towards participation will cover the funding of 57 member shooting team which includes 34 Shooters, 15 Coaches, and 8 members of Support Staff including the HPD. The team's boarding/Lodging costs, airfare, visa costs and Out of Pocket Allowance (OPA) among other expenditures will be covered under MYAS Annual Callender for Training & Competition (ACTC) Scheme.
