Australian all-rounder Annabel Sutherland and uncapped Indian pacer Kashvee Gautam attracted the biggest bids of Rs 2 crores each from Delhi Capitals (DC) and Gujarat Giants (GG) respectively while another uncapped India batter Vrinda Dinesh from Karnataka was bought by UP Warriorz for Rs 1.3 crores at the Women's Premier League (WPL) auction 2024 on Saturday.

All 30 slots, including nine overseas players across all the teams, were filled in the auction. Here is what the final squads look like for all the teams: Delhi Capitals Squad strength: 18 (6 overseas) Players bought: Annabel Sutherland (Rs 2 crore), Aparna Mondal (Rs 10 lakh), Ashwani Kumari (Rs 10 lakh) Auction performance: Delhi Capitals had a strong squad in the last season as well.

The only shortcoming was a back-up to wicketkeeper Taniya Bhatia. They had released Aparna Mondal, who they brought back at base price.

But they did not opt for Uma Chetry, a player from Assam known for scoring quick runs. Sutherland could be a reliable option when Marizanne Kapp is rested.

India are going to be an "incredibly" dominant side for a long period of time and her visiting side can only underestimate the hosts at their own peril, Australia captain Alyssa Healy said on Wednesday, ahead of the one-off women's Test in Mumbai. It was here at the Wankhede that India and Australia played their last women's Test on these shores in February 1984. "India, obviously in their home conditions, are really, really hard to beat. We have had some success over here in the past - do not get me wrong - but the sheer amount of talent in that dressing room, you cannot underestimate at any point in time," Healy told the media ahead of the Test beginning on Thursday.
After missing out on Australia captain Pat Cummins, who was sold for Rs 20.5 crore by SRH, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) went all in for West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph. Joseph, who came in with a base price of Rs 1 crore, was involved in a bidding war between RCB, Delhi Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Kings. RCB eventually got him for Rs 11.5 crore. Yash Dayal, who released by Gujarat Titans ahead of the auction, was also bought by the franchise for Rs 5 crore.
