Another India vs Pakistan contest in the Asia Cup was marred due to rain on Sunday, with the Colombo weather making sure that no play was possible after 24.1 overs, from which Indian batters had scored 147 runs at the loss of 2 wickets.

Thankfully, a reserve day was kept in place by the Asian Cricket Council for the match in Colombo. But, the weather conditions at the R Premadasa stadium aren't as conducive for cricket as the two teams would've liked on Monday too.

India got off to a flier against Pakistan, who were left to rue some missed opportunities in the field. Skipper Rohit Sharma scored a half-century before being dismissed while his opening partner Shubman Gill also completed a fifty.

Virat Kohli and KL Rahul were hoping to take India to a strong total but rain pushed the match to reserve day. What happens in case of a washout on the reserve day? As the format of the Super 4 goes, all four qualified teams will play against each other once.

The Asia Cup 2023 matches have been severely affected by rain during the entire stretch of the competition and the final between India and Sri Lanka on Sunday was not different. The toss took place on time but the game did not start as rain halted proceedings at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo and the entire ground had to be covered properly by the groundstaff. If match is completely washed out on Sunday, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has kept a reserve day for the final on Monday (September 18). Slamming the decision to add a reserve day only for the Asia Cup Super Four match between India and Pakistan, former Sri Lanka captain Arjuna Ranatunga on Friday said favouring one team will put cricket in peril. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) move to add a reserve day for the Indo-Pak match in Colombo had raised several eyebrows, despite inclement weather being listed out as the reason. "You take the Asia Cup. You have rules before the tournament, but before that one game (India v Pakistan), they changed the rules. Where is ACC? Where is ICC?," Ranatunga asked during an interaction with select media outlets. Ranatunga said changing rules of a tournament to suit one or two teams would put the game in jeopardy, and slammed ICC and ACC for inaction.

In that match, India managed to tie the game despite posting 141/9 in 20 overs. India won the match later through a bowl-out, which saw players from each side taking an aim at the wickets.
Former Indian cricket team captain Sunil Gavaskar was elated after the Rohit Sharma-led side hammered Pakistan by 228 runs in an Asia Cup Super 4 clash on Monday. Virat Kohli and the returning KL Rahul scored unbeaten centuries as India posted a total of 356/2 in 50 overs. In reply, Pakistan were bowled out for a paltry total of 128, with Kuldeep Yadav taking a five-wicket haul. Gavaskar likened India's big win over Pakistan to a washerman thrashing clothes at a laundry bay.
