Virat Kohli is one of the most prolific run-scorers and has broken several records in a glittering career so far. With 71 international centuries, he is tied with Ricky Ponting and only the legendary Sachin Tendulkar has more. However, he has always maintained that he does not care much for individual milestones and is more interested in doing what is best for the team. And he put that selflessness on display when he gave up an opportunity to score a half-century against South Africa in the second T20I so India could maximise their score.
Naman Ojha and top-class spells from Vinay Kumar and Abhimanyu Mithun helped India Legends clinch their second-straight Road Safety World Series title by defeating Sri Lanka Legends by 33 runs in final at Raipur on Saturday. In the first innings, India put up a huge 195/6 in 20 overs, thanks to a superb 108* off 71 balls by Naman Ojha. Nuwan Kulasekara (3/29) led the Sri Lankan bowling charts with his spell that provided both economy and key wickets. Chasing 196, it was only Ishan Jayaratne (51) who was able to provide a powerful resistance against Indian bowlers, led by Vinay Kumar (3/38).
Legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar failed to weave his magic with the bat in the final match of the Road Safety World Series on Saturday. Coming in to open the batting with Naman Ojha for India Legends in Raipur, Tendulkar fell for a first-ball duck off the bowling of former international and Sri Lanka Legends pacer Nuwan Kulasekara. The right-arm pacer bowled a beautiful delivery on a good length outside off-stump to Tendulkar. The ball swung into Tendulkar and found a big gap between his bat and pad to eventually rattle the stumps.
India Legends on Thursday reached the final of the Road Safety World Series after beating Australia Legends, courtesy of a special knock from all-rounder Irfan Pathan. With India Legends in trouble, Pathan played the finisher's role and smashed an unbeaten 39-run knock, smashing four sixes and two boundaries. Notably, he struck all sixes off Australia legend Dirk Nannes, one in the 17th over, followed by three more in the penultimate over of the match. With just one run needed off five deliveries, Pathan hit legendary Australia pacer Brett Lee for a four over midwicket to finish things off.
Sachin Tendulkar reminded Indian cricket fans of what they have been missing on TV screens for close to a decade now as he hit former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee for a boundary with his trademark punch on the up through the extra cover region for a boundary during the semi-final clash between India Legends and Australia Legends in the Road Safety World Series.
