India captain Rohit Sharma added another feather to his cap, claiming his first wicket in a Cricket World Cup match on Sunday.

Rolling his arm as India needed just one wicket to win the contest against the Netherlands in Bengaluru, Rohit delivered having bowled just 5 deliveries.

Wife Ritika Sajdeh, who was watching from the stands, was all smiles seeing the India captain do something unique on the 22-yard strip.

India were stupendous with the bat, scoring 410 runs, with the top 5 batters scoring 50-plus runs. KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, on the other hand, recorded centuries.

He was also present at the presentation ceremony and gave the ODI Cricket World Cup trophy to Australia's winning captain Pat Cummins. Later, he went and met the Indian cricket team in the dressing room. The images from the meeting has gone viral on social media. The ODI Cricket World Cup 2023's top wicket-taker, Mohammed Shami expressed gratitude towards fans for their support throughout the tournament and thanked PM Narendra Modi for meeting players in the dressing room. Even Ravindra Jadeja expressed his gratitude towards PM Narendra Modi.
India was sad on Sunday. The nation could not be faulted as its dream had come crashing down. The country had pinned their hopes on the Indian cricket team to bring home the World Cup with a win over Australia in  the final in Ahmedabad, but it was the visitors who were the better team on the day and deservedly took the title. But the most dejected lot of them all were the Indian cricket team players, who played a fearless brand of cricket over the last month-and-half. But one bad day in office ruined their dreams.
The World Cup trophy was not meant to be his, but India's 'Captain Fearless' Rohit Sharma gave everything on the field and so did Mohammed Shami, who set the record for most fifers in the tournament's history. India's World Cup dream also had Virat Kohli creating history with his 765 runs and notching up the 50th century to finish as the Player of the Tournament, but there were remarkable performers from the other teams as well. South Africa once again crashed in the semifinal stage but looked formidable yet again, courtesy aggressive batters such as Quinton de Kock and Heinrich Klaasen and for New Zealand, the young Rachin Ravindra made it a tournament to remember.
India coach Rahul Dravid lauded captain Rohit Sharma as "an exceptional leader" after the hosts lost out on a first Cricket World Cup in 12 years with defeat to Australia in Sunday's final.
