As Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill piled up their respective centuries on Day 2 of the 5th Test in Dharamsala, England captain Ben Stokes took the matter into his own hands, bowling for the first time in the series.

Rohit and Gill looked in absolute control in the first session which was dominated by India. At the lunch break, Stokes was seen warming up with the ball, sending a signal that he could bowl soon.

The England captain bowled the second over after Lunch and clean-bowled Rohit on the very first delivery. Seeing Stokes shatter his stumps, Rohit looked in absolute disbelief since had hardly been troubled by other England seamers in the match thus far.

But, more than Rohit, a bigger surprise was expressed by Stokes' England teammates and coaching staff. Here's the video: Ben stokes pic.twitter.com/13dMcD2R8G Clutch god Ben Stokes bowled after ages and got Rohit Sharma bowled.

After any loss, it's a tough time for any team. The same is the case with Mumbai Indians, who began their journey under new skipper Hardik Pandya on a losing note. The five-time champions went down to Gujarat Titans on Sunday, which was Pandya's former franchise. Since the time he was made skipper in place of Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya has been under intense scrutiny. He himself must have felt the eyeballs following him a little bit more than in earlier years.
It was the "end of an era" as MS Dhoni stepped down as the Chennai Super Kings captain and he was replaced by Ruturaj Gaikwad for the IPL 2024 season. The announcement came on Thursday just after the captains' meet ahead of the opening match between CSK and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday. Dhoni was appointed the skipper of CSK back in the inaugural IPL season in 2008 and under his leadership, CSK won five IPL titles - the joint-most by any team in the history of the tournament along with Mumbai Indians. Following the announcement, Indian cricket team skipper Rohit Sharma took to social media to react to the news and his post has already gone viral.
India captain Rohit Sharma hailed the performance of the debutants in the recently concluded Test series vs England and called the series one of the toughest of his Test career. Speaking exclusively about the hard-fought series on Team Ro on Instagram, Rohit said, “A five Test match series is always tough, always hard, a lot of challenges through that one and a half to two months that we need to go through. It was a very different experience to play that five Test series and against an opposition like England, we knew it was never going to be easy. We have to be at our best and certainly towards the end, I could say that we are at our best to come out on top on four occasions. So very, very pleased with how we played that series.”
Mumbai Indians (MI) are gearing up for the new Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign, under the leadership of skipper Hardik Pandya. Hardik's appointment as the team's captain came after the franchise's bosses decided to relieve Rohit Sharma of his duties. Rohit joined the Mumbai Indians camp on Monday, and immediately started to prepare for the new season in the nets. The Hitman also shared a few pictures from the training session on social media, but there was no caption.
The thumping series win over England on sporting pitches was not only one of India's finest at home, it also reaffirmed their supremacy in the longest format with young and old combining to smash 'Bazball' out of the park. The likes of Virat Kohli and Mohammed Shami were not available throughout and injuries to KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja after the shock loss in the series opener threatened India's enviable dominance at home but Rohit and Co found a way to put pressure back on their aggressive opposition over the next four games.
Rohit Sharma's captaincy was rather understated vis-a-vis Ben Stokes' on-the-edge methods, but India head coach Rahul Dravid was delighted to see the players identify themselves with the Mumbaikar's leadership principles. Under Rohit, India never made tall claims even once but silently and categorically nullified the visitors' much-talked-about 'Bazball' and grabbed the five-match series 4-1. "I'm privileged to work with a lovely team. I'm learning from them all the time. Rohit has been fantastic to work with. I think he's a terrific leader, and the guys gravitate towards him phenomenally, which is fantastic to see," said Dravid told broadcasters after the match.
