Ugly brawl erupts outside popular nightspot as woman 'dragged down street screaming'
Two people have been arrested after an ugly brawl outside a popular town centre nightspot was caught on camera.
A video widely circulating on social media appears to show a man and woman involved in an altercation outside Bono bar in Royton on Sunday morning (February 9). In the clip, a woman appears on the ground before a man then falls close by following an interaction with a member of security staff.
Another member of the public can be seen attempting to intervene between the man and the security guard, but the man appears to then get up from the ground and push the member of the public back with his hand.
During the incident, the woman can be heard saying: “Get off us. We’re decent people, get off us. Get off us and let us explain.”
Today (February 14), Greater Manchester Police confirmed a man and woman have been arrested. But officials in the Oldham town have criticised the force following several incidents in the area.
A councillor for Royton, Lewis Quigg, took to social media to update residents on the situation. He said: “The police promised us last year of more heightened patrols and inspections. The chief superintendent now needs to get a grip because things have just not changed or improved. Both the council and police need to deal with this now, rather than later.”
Cemal Budak, the owner of Bono, claims a man and woman were drinking in his bar, Bono, and became involved in an altercation with people queuing up outside as they left. He added that bouncers from the venue then became involved.
The incident comes just weeks after police launched an investigation into reports of a 'gang attack' and a man being 'glassed over the head' outside the same bar. And at the end of December, a punter at Bono is understood
