Young pacer Arshdeep Singh showed great resolve on Tuesday as he gave it his all in trying to defend seven runs in the final over against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup Super 4 match.

He managed to take the game to the penultimate delivery, but it was Sri Lanka who ended up winning the match by six wickets.

It is important to note that the left-arm seamer was subjected to severe criticism and trolling on social media after he ended up dropping a relatively easy catch in the game against Pakistan, which India ended up losing by five wickets.

After the loss against Sri Lanka, skipper Rohit Sharma spoke about Arshdeep's mindset and how the young pacer is pretty confident and likes to deliver in pressure situations.

India captain Rohit Sharma on Sunday admitted that death bowling remains an area of concern for the team going into next month's T20 World Cup but hoped that the bowlers will find their groove soon. India's death bowling came a cropper in the last few matches in the Asia Cup, leading to the team's early exit. In the opening game of the three-match T20 series, India couldn't defend 208 as Australia scored 53 in last three overs to register a four wicket win.
India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bowl first against Australia in the third and final T20I at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket in Hyderabad. With the series levelled at 1-1, India made just one change to their playing XI from the previous game as Bhuvneshwar Kumar returned to the side, replacing wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant. India had levelled the series 1-1 after beating Australia in a rain-hit match. During the toss, Rohit explained why Pant had to sit out the series decider.
Dinesh Karthik come up with the big hits in extreme pressure situations. One such case was on Friday night when he smashed a six and four to seal the game for India after nine runs were needed off the last six balls. Asked about his process, the designated finisher in the team said creating scenarios in the nets helps him perform in the middle. "Over a period of time, I've been practising for this, I've been doing it for RCB now and I'm happy doing it here. So it's a consistent routine for a period of time. "I do a lot of scenario practices and also Rahul (Dravid) bhai and Vikram (Rathour) bhai has been accommodating of how I want to practice, what are the kinds of shots I want to practice.
Rohit Sharma is extremely pleased with Axar Patel's bowling effort but is eagerly waiting to see how he bats in crunch moments after the spin all-rounder made an impression in the team's win in the second T20I against Australia, here on Friday. The left-arm spinner grabbed two wickets -- Glenn Maxwell and Tim David -- and conceded only 13 runs in his two overs in the must-win game for the hosts. "Axar can bowl in any stage, gives me an advantage of using the other bowlers in different situations too - maybe use the pacers in the middle overs if he bowls in the powerplay. I would like to see his batting as well," said Rohit. The skipper himself produced a match-winning, unbeaten 46-run knock. His first six was a humongous 90-metre shot off pacer Josh Hazlewood. "I was quite surprised as well actually. Didn't expect to hit it like that, glad it came off. For the last 8-9 months I have been playing like that. You can't really plan too much in such a shortened game," he said about his batting.
After a forgettable Asia Cup campaign, where it failed to qualify for the final, the Indian cricket team started off their T20I series against Australia with a four-wicket loss. Despite putting up a 208-run total, a tame Indian bowling attack could not defend the high target. The worst part about the team is that with five more official T20Is left before the opening T20 World Cup game against Pakistan on October 23, the Indian team looks highly unsettled.
The Rohit Sharma-led Team India had a disappointing campaign at the Asia Cup 2022 as the side was not able to make it to the final of the continental tournament. The side faced defeats at the hands of Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the Super 4 stage and were knocked out. After the match against Sri Lanka, Rohit Sharma had said that the side is still trying to find out answers to some questions.
