The company behind a proposed landmark hotel backed by Cristiano Ronaldo has moved to keep the plans alive. Southern Green Properties, a joint venture between Eastern Green and hotel chain Pestana, is seeking to keep the £27m plans from expiring.

If the 11-storey hotel is ever completed it would include 151 bedrooms and operate under the CR7 brand. Try MEN Premium for FREE by clicking here for no ads, fun puzzles and brilliant new features. Manchester City Council first approved the proposals in 2020.

In its bid to keep the plans from running out of time, Southern Green Properties has applied to discharge a number of conditions which would buy it more time to start work on the site.

If the discharge of the conditions are not approved by the council then the consent would lapse when it hits the three-year deadline in December.
