Sheffield Wednesday are ‘still hopeful’ of signing Hull City forward Mallik Wilks in the summer transfer window, according to reliable journalist Dom Howson. The 23-year-old could potentially depart Hull in the coming weeks, having struggled to nail down a regular starting berth last season, making 20 Championship appearances.

Wednesday have been linked with a move for Wilks recently, as Darren Moore looks to bring in more wide attacking quality between now and the end of August.

Now, a fresh update suggests that the transfer could still be in the pipeline. Taking to Twitter on Monday, Yorkshire Live‘s Howson provided a positive update on Wednesday’s quest to sign Wilks: “Mallik Wilks did not feature for Hull against Bristol City due to a minor injury.

Sheffield Wednesday are still hopeful of signing Wilks before the transfer window shuts.” The Owls have spent well during the summer, strengthening their spine by bringing in the likes of Ben Heneghen, Will Vaulks and Michael Smith, but they are still lacking out wide.
