Shamrock Rovers cleared to play group stage games in Tallaght

Shamrock Rovers have been given the green light to play all of their Europa Conference League home games at Tallaght Stadium.UEFA has approved the Hoops' application to play in Tallaght should the Premier Division table-toppers drop in to the group stages of Europe's third-tier competition.Rovers play Hungarian champions Ferencvaros in the second leg of their Europa League play-off on Thursday night.They trail 4-0 after the first leg in Budapest and require something extraordinary to progress, but Stephen Bradley's men do have the safety net of the Europa Conference League group stages, which they are guaranteed to enter in if they lose.Having submitted the required paperwork to UEFA, who are content the media and corporate facilities at Tallaght Stadium can be suitably increased, Rovers now know that they will play at their usual home ground should they enter the Conference League.In a statement released on Wednesday, Shamrock Rovers said: "This is the outcome that our supporters and all at Shamrock Rovers FC were hoping for, and while the club will need to take on the cost of additional measures required to comply with UEFA Category 4 Stadium requirements, it's a price worth paying to deliver on that wish."Following the completion of the SDCC [South Dublin County Council] works on the North Stand and modifications to the Main Stand, the stadium will be Category 4 compliant without additional works from 2023."Watch Shamrock Rovers v Ferencvaros in the Europa League play-off round second leg on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player on Thursday from 7.30pm
