Pakistan head coach Saqlain Mushtaq has said that wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan, who had suffered an injury in his knee during the Super Four match with India, has been cleared by the medical team to play in the remaining matches of the tournament.

Saqlain told the media that Rizwan is fit and a replacement is not required at the moment. "These things happen, Pakistan is not that far from UAE, if we have such a situation we can call backup but there's no need as of now.

Rizwan's workload is a lot and we will look to manage it. For now, the medical team has given him the green signal," said the legendary spinner.

Talking about the team's strategy in the match against India he talked about the team opting to attack the batting and bowling mainstays of the opposition to inflict maximum damage. "There are strategies in which you attack the main bowler or batsman as that jolts the flow of the team.

Young India pacer Arshdeep Singh became one of the major highlights of Asia Cup 2022, for both right and wrong reasons. The Punjab bowler, who made his international debut in the T20I against England this year, has played 11 matches and scalped 14 wickets so far. During the Asia Cup Super 4 clash against Pakistan, Arshdeep dropped a relatively easy catch of Asif Ali, following which he had to face a lot flak on social media. After India lost to Pakistan, where Arshdeep failed to defend seven runs of the last over, he had a chat with his coach Jaswant Rai, expressing disappointment on his performance.
DUBAI : Pakistan head coach Saqlain Mushtaq dismissed concerns about captain Babar Azam's form and found nothing wrong with opener Mohammad Rizwan's batting approach after their loss to Sri Lanka in Sunday's Asia Cup final in Dubai.
Pakistan coach Saqlain Mushtaq defended his team's Twenty20 playing style after losing Sunday's Asia Cup final, saying they were on the right track for next month's T20 World Cup. Babar Azam's side failed to chase 171 to beat Sri Lanka,  their 23-run defeat bucking the trend of teams winning while batting second in Dubai. Mohammad Rizwan made 55 in 49 balls for Pakistan and finished as the tournament's leading scorer with 281 runs in six innings.
Asia Cup final in Dubai. Babar, currently the second ranked Twenty20 (T20) batsman in the world behind team mate Rizwan, managed only 68 runs in six innings and his form would be a concern ahead of the 20-overs World Cup in Australia beginning next month. "If someone looks at his batting, you'd just say he's unlucky, especially the way he's getting out," Saqlain said after their 23-run defeat by Sri Lanka.
A title clash though is a very different cup of tea from a league stage or Super 4 match. The pressure on the players in a big final is much more. Add to that the fact that the world will be looking at the Lankans today to see if they can take a big step forward in their team rebuilding process and you know that Dasun Shanaka and co. will be very keenly aware of just how much is at stake here for them. Pakistan on the other hand are being tagged the favourites, despite losing to the Lankans in the last Super 4 match.
Saqlain Mushtaq, the Pakistan coach, says he is confident his team of “game changers and match-winners” will bounce back to overcome Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final.
