Kevin Pietersen on Saturday threw his weight behind the out-of-form Virat Kohli, saying that he should be proud as "people can only dream about" what he has achieved.

The former Indian skipper is enduring a wretched run with the bat and has failed to score a century since November 2019. "You go big guy!

People can only dream about what you've done in cricket. And they're some of the best players that have played the game," Pietersen wrote in a social media post.

In another message for Kohli, Pietersen wrote on his Instagram: "Buddy, your career has had some of the best that have played the game only wish they could have done what you have (so far). "Be proud, walk tall & enjoy life.

Virat Kohli's form with the bat has been the biggest talking point in Indian cricket for a while now and the former India captain's struggles off late have led to talks about his place in the team. It is a well document fact by now that Kohli has not scored an international century since November 2019, but he was still getting in good knocks in all formats after international cricket resumed in late 2020 and 2021.
Virat Kohli regain touch by sorting his batting woes, especially his weakness outside off stump. Kohli is enduring a wretched run with the bat and has failed to score a century since November 2019. He could manage just 76 runs from six innings across formats on the England soil, which included the rescheduled fifth Test, two ODIs and as many T20s.
Virat Kohli, who is struggling to get back to form, has found support from his teammates. Just like India skipper Rohit Sharma, swashbuckling batter Dinesh Karthik has also come out in Kohli's support. "Virat has experienced insane success over the period of time. Now he will get a good break and will come back all recharged and hopefully will do phenomenally well. You can never rule out a player of his calibre," Karthik said on the sidelines of a training session with the budding cricketers at the PS Sports Excellence Arena here on Monday. Kohli has been rested for the West Indies tour which will begin on July 22.
Virat Kohli had a forgettable run in the recently-concluded England Tour. In none of the matches in Tests, ODIs or T20Is against Englanr, the former Indian cricket team captain could score big. His string of scores in the recent Tour of England are 11, 20, 1, 11, 16 and 17. He is not part of the Indian squad for the upcoming Tour of West Indies, where India will be playing three ODIs and five T20Is. With no century since late 2019, several former players have spoken out about the long rope being given to Kohli.
The legendary Kapil Dev wondered if Virat Kohli was indeed rested or ignored for the upcoming five T20Is against the West Indies, hinting that the word "dropped" may have been avoided as he "is not an ordinary" cricketer. Kohli's lean run is now into its third year, the modern-day great last scoring an international century in 2019, something that recently prompted Dev to say that the team management can't go by reputation only. The former India skipper will not feature in the the five-match T20I series against the West Indies, to be played in the Caribbean and the United States from July 29.
