New York Jets: Fans take over national anthem ahead of first NFL game

givemesport.com

New York Jets fans had an incredibly emotional start to their season with an emotional singing of the National Anthem. Today is the opening Sunday of the NFL season, with the vast majority of teams beginning their campaigns (barring those that played on Thursday and are set to play on Monday) and hoping that they can bring home the Vince Lombardi Trophy this season.

A lot of that is in the future though, but given today’s date, it was also important for us to focus on the past and the events that took place 21 days today, the anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks.

There were tributes all around the NFL on the day, as the league came together to reflect on the events of that day with each stadium holding their own tributes.

It was an event that stunned and shook the world, but with the events taking place in New York, arguably no set of fans will have been impacted more than those of the New York Jets and New York Giants, who although they play over the river in New Jersey, still represent the city of New York.
