Cal Crutchlow is set for this fourth of six MotoGP races as part of the WithU RNF Yamaha team this weekend. A firm paddock favourite, Phillip Island in Australia is a unique and demanding circuit on the Bass straight, open to the elements and the changeable early spring weather.
Crutchlow has enjoyed three visits to the Australian GP podium, including victory in 2016 and second on his last visit and is looking to enjoy a strong showing at the 4.5km 12-corner layout on the YZR-M1. “I’m looking forward to go back to Phillip Island,” Crutchlow said of his return to Australia. “Last time we rode there was in 2019 and I think everybody is looking forward to getting back on this track.“We had a disappointing last race in Buriram with the bad conditions in the race.
Hopefully the weather in Australia is a little bit better for this weekend and hopefully we can have a good result. “The team is working well and we are working close with Yamaha,” the Brit said as he continues his testing roll with the manufacture with two tests alongside the six races over the two month period. “I’m obviously having a busy schedule at the moment, but I’m looking forward to the race this weekend.”
